It’s a bit late in the year for a Halloween product review, but this gorgeous lotion makes for a wonderful winter scent. I was apprehensive to purchase this at first, because as you may already know, I am really not keen on floral scents, particularly rose. I ended up missing out on this in October when It was in the kitchen, and I realized afterwards that I should’ve gotten it. I kept seeing it pop up on my instagram feed, and everyone raved about how magical and spicy it smelled. Finally, I tracked down a bottle on Mercari, and after a bundle deal and a few credits, I got it for a much better price than I would’ve found on ebay, so I was ecstatic.

I received it a few days later, and I was so happy once I unscrewed the lid and took my first sniff. It truly was a magical fragrance. I was relieved that out of the two floral components, carnation was much more prominent than the rose. The carnation gives this lotion a beautiful spicy and warm scent, while the rose softens the edges and gives it a dash of femininity. Tangerine oil keeps the scent from becoming too heavy, and lends a bright citrus note to the lotion, while almond oil is slightly nutty and warm. Together, the ingredients create a fragrance that I can really only describe as absolutely magical. I do think this is a more wintry scent, because while it is not overpowering by any means, it is heavier and warming. I really hope I can get my hands on the Potion Perfume, because I would love for this to be my signature scent. It is feminine but not little girlish, I find it to be mysterious with a dash of glamour. Because I only have one bottle and I doubt it will reappear in the Kitchen again for at least another 6 months, I am rationing what I have and using it more as a perfume than a full body lotion, focusing it only on my pulse points and upper body. Luckily the scent is long lasting and strong enough to be noticed, even with this very sparse application!

I have only used Potion on my entire body once, but I use it multiple times a week on my upper body, so I feel like I have a good grasp of how it preforms on the skin. With ingredients like cocoa butter and almond oil, you can tell just from the ingredient list that this is a wonderfully hydrating concoction. Coacoa butter is supremely soft and moisturizing, and my skin just drinks it up. Almond oil’s composition is quite similar to the oils produced by your skin, so it is easily absorbed and very replenishing. I find that this lotion absorbs quickly and does not leave me feeling greasy, yet soothes and hydrates as well as a much heavier lotion would. I don’t need to top up my lotion at all at the end of the day, even with cold temperatures outside, and huddling in front of a drying space heater at work all day. I get very dry skin, so it’s not uncommon for some lotions to need a top up around dinnertime in the winter, but this one persists a full 24 hours.

I really adore this lotion, and I hope I can find another good deal on a bottle soon, and that it returns to the Kitchen next year, It really isn’t one to miss!

If you’re at all familiar with Lush’s Sugar Scrub Body Scrub, you’ll notice mine looks a bit different than what you’re used to.. Sugar Scrub comes as a hard, half-sphere of product with no packaging. As much as I adore this scrub and find that it works beautifully on my skin, i find that it is just too harsh to use in the original format (except perhaps on rough heels, but there’s Pumice Power for that!). Instead, I crush it up and store it in a container, as seen here. I promise I will add photos once I have repurchased this product!

I have quite sensitive skin, so using a hard clump of solid product as a scrub is just too rough on me. But after I crush it up, I can scoop out just enough, and rub in a circular motion onto my skin until it dissolves in the water. This method is gentle, but effective, and leaves my skin wonderfully exfoliated without any irritation.

I find that it is best to step out of the direct stream of water when using this, in both it’s solid bar or crumbled form. If you are using the solid form of this, the bar will quickly start to crumble and dissolve, shortening its number of uses immensely. If you are using it in the crumbled form under the water, it will dissolve even quicker, before you even have a chance to get a good exfoliation.

Aside form exfoliating, I find that this product also leaves your skin feeling quite toned without feeling tight or dry. This is from the fennel and ginger, both of which offer toning and antiseptic properties. This makes this scrub a great product for those who suffer from body acne, because it will clear your pores, and lavender oil will help to sooth and heal.

This scrub has a very green, fresh scent, no doubt from the fennel and ginger, and it is soothing and herbal from the lavender. I am really excited to pair this with my B-Electro shower gel, as they both feature Fennel as an ingredient.

I feel like I should preface this review by saying that my particular Experimenter was a dud. I have seen dozens of posts about how beautiful and amazing and spectacular the Experimenter is, but as with some products, the one I received was inconsistent with the quality and beauty others have experienced. I have seen many videos and photos of the beauty this bath bomb can produce, so I know it is possible, and I really hope to give this another try after the Holidays. But, for now, all I have is an honest review of a complete dud of a bath bomb. I do hope to update this in a more positive light once I have tried it again.

I had high hopes for The Experimenter. I had seen and red about the gorgeous swirls of the rainbow it produced, so I was eager to try this, and recreat the full spectrum of color in my bath. Unfortunately, mine was much less than I had hoped it to be. Instead of fizzing steadily and letting color foam of all shades of the rainbow expand across the tub, the orange and yellow side fizzled out in a matter of 15 seconds. The remaining portion sank to the bottom where it continued to fizz for quite a while. This bomb does contain popping candy, which is a nice touch, but I only heard a handful of crackles and pops- it didn’t last nearly as long as my Lord of Misrule did. Neither half produced much rainbow hued foam. Instead the colors just ran together creating a murky gray water. I had been aware of the color of the water before using this bomb as it is the only complaint I’ve heard about it, so I was not surprised, though I had hoped it wouldn’t be quite as ugly as it was. 

I also made the mistake of touching the pink/purple/blue portion once it had sank, to try to get it back to the surface. My hand was immediately stained a bright fuchsia, that took some scrubbing to remove.

Perhaps the only redeeming factor I found in this bomb was the scent. The most prominent notes are Vanilla and Tonka- a beautiful sweet vanilla fragrance, that with the addition of Vertivert oil, becomes smokey and sultry. I found the scent quite strong, and it was a beautifully comforting and relaxing scent that I really enjoyed, and was glad that it lingered on my skin for a very long time after the bath.

Because the scent is strong, I believe this bath bomb would be easily split across two baths to maintain a prettier colored bath water. Of course this will mean you won’t have a full array of colors, but you could choose to have one bath that is a more yellow/ gold tone, and one that comes out purple. The scent and glitter will most certainly be plentiful even if distributed across two baths.

Overall, I was quite disappointed with my experience. I really hope that once I repurchase this, I will be able to enjoy it to the fullest extent, as it is intended to be. I also want to point out that like many of the new bath products that were recently introduced to North American stores, the Experimenter is quite a bit cheaper if you order it from the UK site. it is nearly $9 in the US, but after conversion, it is just under $6 from the UK. UK shipping is just a couple dollars more than US shipping so it makes a lot of sense to order from there instead, if you’re purchasing quite a few items. You will save a ton in the long run. Just be cautious- they do ship everything naked, so sometimes there is color transfer between products! I have not had any issues with anything breaking though, so I do highly recommend the UK site. They have so many amazing exclusives as well!

Big Blue is one of Lush’s more popular bath bombs, often mixed with Sunnyside to create a shimmery turquoise cocktail known as “Mermaid Water”. I skipped the bubble bar and tried this strikingly blue bomb all by itself, and enjoyed every moment.

This ocean inspired bomb is packed full with wonderful treats from the sea. Nourishing Arame seaweed is used to detoxify, soothe, soften, and protect the skin against moisture loss. Unrefined coarse and fine sea salt are added for their astringent and cleansing effects, as well as beneficial minerals like sodium and magnesium. Sea salts are also thought to promote healing and contain anti-inflammatory and muscle soothing properties, which will be of benefit post-workout, to relieve menstrual cramps, and to reduce the pain of arthritis. I suffer from severe cramps as well as arthritis in most of my joints, so this bath bomb is truly a miracle for me!

This bomb also contains lovely ingredients that hail from dry land, such as lemon oil and lavender. Lemon oil brightens and cleanses skin, while lavender acts as an aromatic to promote relaxation as well as soothe joint pain. The combination of the two create a light, clean scent. The lemon oil is uplifting, while the lavender is calming, and the salt and seaweed give a hint of the sea.

I found this bath bomb very softening, and I felt refreshed, relaxed, and clean once I got out of the tum. My skin was lightly fragranced for a while afterward. I really enjoyed the relief this bomb brought my joints, and I will surely be repurchasing it as a staple in my stash. I know some people have concerns about the seaweed because it leaves behind quite a lot of it, and while this is not an issue for me, I can understand how it would be worrisome. An easy solution would be to drop the bomb into the oe of an old pair of tights and cut it off at the ankle, (or wrap it up in cheesecloth), secure the top, and drop it in the bath. this way, the bomb is free to dissolve in the water and release its nutrients, but the messy stuff stays inside the little sachet. It’s also a great way to recycle a pair of ruined tights!

Out of the small fraction of Lush fragrances I have encountered, The Olive Branch has a secure place at the top of the list, right beside Yuzu & Cocoa and The Comforter. The Olive Branch was the very first Lush shower gel I tried, so I had no Idea what to expect. It’s a beautiful orangey amber color, with a thin consistency. I was surprised to discover that despite the watery consistency, just a couple drops on my netted sponge lathered beautifully.

This gel contains bergamot, olive, mandarin, and olive oils, which not only make for a moisturising and brightening wash, but mingle to create a warm and bright scent. The smell is more complex than just citrus, it has a complexity to it that is mature very sultry. This is one of the most glamorous smelling products I have ever smelled, and it’s absolutely stunning. Vine leaf infusion conditions the skin, and sea salt cleanses, leaving you with nourished, clean skin. 

This is an all around beautiful product, the only criticism I have would be that it’s a little too watery, and I know this puts many people off. I personally don’t find that it affects it’s overall performance, and as long as you are mindful of how much you’re using you won’t run out any faster than with thicker gels. This is the first shower gel that I’ve been tempted to order in a 1kg bottle, and that might just be what I ask for for Christmas…

I was intrigued by the charitable aspect of this hand cream, and I was on the hunt for a new lotion to keep on my desk at work. This little black pot is full of nourishing ingredients, and 100% of the proceeds go towards various grassroots organizations. You can read all about the Charity aspect of the product and the company’s SLush Fund initiative here. 

This lotion contains moisturising ingredients such as olive oil, jojoba oil, aloe vera, shea butter and cocoa butter. This makes for a nourishing cream. I was a little unsure at first because it ends to be a little greasy if you put too much on, but overall it is very hydrating and it has a beautifully silky texture. I also find that the “greasiness” left behind feels more like a protective barrier against dehydration, which makes this a great cream for winter. 

When I smelled this lotion for the first time, I immediately thought of a little Italian bakery I pop into from time to time. I’m not sure how the geranium, rosewood, ylang ylang, and vanilla essential oils combine to create that doughy, sweet smell, but I swear it does. The scent is quite strong when you first apply the lotion, but after 15 minutes or so, it mellows out to a gentle sweet fragrance, pretty much undetectable unless you put your hands right up to your nose.

I love the creamy luxurious feel and the charitable aspect of this cream. This is the first lotion I have tried from Lush, and I’m really excited to see what else they have to offer!

I ordered this bubble bar while it was still  a UK exclusive, so I didn’t have a chance to smell it before purchase. When it arrived, I was pretty surprised at the scent. On the website, it lists orange oil and patchouli oil as the main fragrances, so I was expecting something citrus and earthy, perhaps softened by the skimmed milk. When I took this out of the box however, all I could smell was a very clean floral smell reminiscent of laundry detergent or baby wipes. I am not a fan of floral, soapy smells in the bath - I much prefer something sweet and fruity, or earthy and spicy. Despite this, the bubble bar contained skin softening ingredients like skimmed milk and cocoa butter so I decided to give it a try.

I popped he bar in my strainer and stuck it under the tap.When trying a new bubble bar I usually use the entire thing, just to see how many bubbles it can produce. While this bar produced a good amount of bubbles for this bath, it probably would not be worth it to spread the bar across two baths, as it wasn’t an impressive amount of bubbles by any means, and about ¼ of them dissipated within the first 5 minutes before leveling off to a standard amount of bubbles for the remainder of the bath.

I did notice the scent of the bar amplified upon meeting the water. I really couldn’t help but imagine myself soaking in a bath fragranced with nothing more than laundry detergent. While this would make a lovely scent for clean clothes, I don’t exactly want to bathe in it. I feel like lush missed an opportunity here. Perhaps it is the patchouli that gives this soapy scent, though I would find it surprising. If so, I feel like almond absolute or almond oil would’ve done an excellent job in it’s place, creating a sweet, soft scent as well as contributing wonderful skin nourishing properties, and mingling beautifully with the orange oil. Out of the bath, this left a light, clean fragrance on the skin that lasted for hours, and was much more pleasant than the overpowering scent in the bath.

This bar did soften the bath water, and I feel like it did a decent job at softening the skin, though once I removed myself from the tub I felt incredibly soapy, so I had to give myself a good rinse under the showerhead to make sure my skin didn’t get dried out. I don’t usually feel the need to have a super thorough rinse after other bubble bars like The Comforter or the old formulation of Karma, so I feel like that is a good indication of just how soapy this bubble bar is.

Overall, I feel like this bubble bar was not suited to my tastes, but those who enjoy a fresh and lightly floral scent will adore this. It doesn’t make for the most exciting looking bath because the water stays clear, but it produces a good amount of bubbles when you use the entire bar and smells very clean.

This truly is a beautiful soap. A creamy emerald green bar with a sprinkling of flower petals and a kaffir lime leaf on top, this exclusive soap is a sight to behold. I didn’t know what to expect for a scent from the sandalwood, spinach, tangerine, and gardenia, but I was pleasantly surprised with the earthy green and slightly floral aroma that greeted me upon opening the package. Something about this soap brings me such comfort. It it brings to mind a lazy sunny day in mid-July, a stroll by a river along a flower lined path.

When I first picked up this soap, I quickly noticed it was ever so slightly melted by the heat of my hands, and I can only assume this is due to the Coconut and rapeseed oils it contains. I found that these oils make for a very moisturizing (though not very sudsy) lather that feels gentle, but still cleansing. I don’t particularly care for soaps with an intense lather, so this was excellent for me.

An interesting component to this soap is chlorophyll, which actually has some great skincare benefits. It is an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial agent. That makes it fantastic for combating acne and fighting free-radicals.

Overall, I am completely in love with this soap, and I hope it returns to the kitchen very soon! Until then, I will be savoring it, using it only when I need a special pick-me-up!

I was excited to try this Fun because of the novelty of a yummy smelling moldable bath product, but I really didn’t expect much when it came to the it’s overall performance. 

This bright tri-color log of moldable soap carries the same strong and sweet scent of Lord of Misrule Bath Bomb and Shower Gel, as well as The Rough With The Smooth Shower Scrub. It was very strongly scented, even through the wrapper. The scent grew even stronger when I opened the wrapper and started to mold it into mini bubble bars. Even though I like the LOM scent, I had been smelling quite a lot of it lately, and it became pretty overpowering for me. I was also frustrated when I was molding the Fun, because it was much more crumbly and drier than I had anticipated. After some struggle, I was able to form my swirly bubble bars by rolling out the colors, stacking them, then rolling it up jellyroll style, and slicing it into 4 pieces. By the time I was done my head was hazy with the scent so I wrapped them all up and threw them in with all my other products and decided to forget about it for a while. 

Fast forward a couple weeks, and I was craving a sweetly scented bath. I rediscovered my little handcrafted rolls, and was happy to discover the scent had mellowed slightly. I grabbed one of the rolls, set in a strainer, and held it under the tap. Ond I just could not believe the luxurious bath that formed. I was worried what color the water would turn, because I had taken the risk of mixing purple and pink with bright green.. I was expecting a murky color, but was surprised to discover it created a beautiful, rich mauve purple which is one of my favorite colors. The bubbles this created were fluffy and plentiful as well. 

I didn’t find that the Fun did much benefit to my skin, aside from making it feel very clean, so I added a couple of tablespoons of coconut oil to the bath so I wouldn’t feel too dry after exiting the bath. The scent of the coconut mingled nicely with the vanilla scent of the Fun. 

Overall, the bath was very pleasant. The scent mellowed out and stayed through the entire bath, he bubbles were very nice, though they disappeared more quickly than a bubble bar would’ve. Also, I will get 4 baths out of this product (and that’s with a generous amount of bubbles, many people could stretch it to 6 baths), so I think it is pretty cost effective.

I’m not going to lie, I was pretty disappointed in this product. I had never tried a LUSH deodorant before, so I was expecting a slightly more traditional consistency (meaning solid, yet creamy), but this was just a compacted powder, and it is so very messy. When I recieved the bar, the wax on the bottom had completely come off (2nd photo), so now whenever I put it down somewhere, it leaves a powdery pile behind, wasting tons of product.

I applied this after an evening shower, and the first thing I noticed, was the incredible stinging sensation- I hadn’t even shaved my underarms since the previous evening, so I can only imagine how painful this would be on freshly shaved or waxed underarms. I’m not sure which of the ingredients might have been irritating, though I suspect it was most likely the sodium bicarbonate, despite LUSH’s claims that it is a soothing ingredient. Also, the product is quite coarse, which I’m sure does not help.

As for protection against perspiration… again, I’m not too thrilled. I honestly didn’t feel like it did much to keep me dry. I rarely sweat, especially now that the weather is cooling down, but I felt that this did nothing to keep me dry- I actually felt consistently damp throughout the day, which does not happen even when I go without deodorant altogether!

The sole redeeming quality in this deodorant would have to be it’s scent. It’s deliciously citrusy and very clean smelling. Unfortunately, as with every other deodorant brand I’ve tried, it just doesn’t mix well with or mask my natural scent. As I stated, I’m not a sweaty or stinky person, but for some reason once I add a scented deodorant to the mix, some strange reaction happens and I just smell worse. I must just have some strange pheromone that doesn’t jive well with perfumes… so the search will continue.

So overall, I would not repurchase this should It be available in the Kitchen again, though I would suggest you to try it out for yourself before I say I wouldn’t recommend it, as everyone is a bit different. When looking at reviews for LUSH’s T’eo Deodorant, I saw many people who had the same problems as I did with Krysztal, but then there were others who absolutely raved about it. This is the type of item that you either love or hate, and I have a feeling that if you enjoy T’eo, you will likely enjoy Krysztal because they are very similar in composition. But, it was just not for me. I think I will give it a few more tries, experimenting with different methods of application, and keep you updated.

I was super excited to see the Sparkly Pumpkin bubble bar with the Halloween collection! This one is perfect for getting you in the fall mood. With bronzy glitter and a cute little cinnamon stick for a stem, this is one glamorous little pumpkin. I was happy to discover it was not your typical pumpkin spice smell (because let’s be real, that is SO overdone!) but a yummy citrus scent. It contains lime and grapefruit oils, which are intended to lift your mood and refresh your skin and mind, so this would be fantastic for a morning bath. It also contains juniper berry, which is used as an antiseptic and to treat acne, so this would make a fantastic soak if you’re trying to combat acne on your body. The smell of juniper is also woody yet refreshing, and I think it is a wonderful wintery scent.

This bubble bar did a fantastic job moisturising, which I found a little surprising because it does not contain any ingredients that are meant to moisturize. It softened the water and turned it a pretty orange with subtle glitter running through, and created a decent amount of bubbles. I really enjoyed this autumnal bomb, and I’m glad I was able to snag two!
